WE SUPPORT RESTRICTIONS ON HEATED TOBACCO PRODUCTS
The Ministry of Health of the Nation, through resolution 565/2023– resolved prohibit the import, distribution, marketing, advertising and any type of promotion and sponsorship of the so-called “heated tobacco products”. From the IECS we celebrate this measure, which constitutes a new and important advance in the fight against smoking.
We are glad that the data generated by the IECS over recent years have been part of the inputs that the Argentine government and other countries in the region have been using to define this and other health policies.
The IECS began focusing on the health, social and economic impact of smoking 18 years ago and has an extensive repository of documents in this line of work available at www.iecs.org.ar/tabaco.
For those of us whose mission is to contribute to improve global health, generating and promoting the application of the best scientific evidence, any legislation or public policy that, with solid foundations, seeks to mitigate this pressing public health problem cannot fail to be worthy of praise.
