Until September 1st, healthcare professionals, teams, and institutions from Latin America were able to submit improvement initiatives to participate in the 16th Latin American Collaborative Forum for Quality and Safety in Healthcare. The selected projects, which will be presented during the forum on October 14th and 15th, 2026, will be announced on September 15th.
An initiative implemented in one service, hospital, or institution can provide valuable lessons for other teams in the region. With this in mind, we are launching a call for proposals to present concrete improvement experiences at the XVI Latin American Collaborative Forum for Quality and Safety in Health, co-organized by the Institute for Clinical and Health Effectiveness (IECS) and the Community of Learning in Value-Based Health (CASBV).
The proposal is aimed at professionals, care teams, quality and patient safety managers, service leaders, administrators, teachers and researchers who have developed and implemented interventions aimed at improving care in Latin American health institutions.
It does not have to be academic research. Experiences developed in real-world care settings could be presented, allowing for the identification of a problem, a description of the intervention implemented, the results achieved, and the sharing of key lessons learned.
What experiences might be presented?
The call for proposals includes initiatives related to:
- Patient safety.
- Effectiveness of care.
- Person-centered care.
- Opportunity for care.
- Efficiency.
- Value in health.
- Equity.
- Environmental sustainability.
Among other examples, experiences related to the prevention of adverse events, the reduction of waiting times, the implementation of clinical practice guidelines, the optimization of resource use, the participation of patients and families, the improvement of hospital flow or the reduction of the environmental impact of health institutions could be submitted.
Each experience was presented through a structured summary of up to 2.500 characters, which included the identified problem, the objective, the implemented intervention, the results, and the conclusions or lessons learned that could be useful for other contexts.
The submissions will be evaluated by independent reviewers. The selected projects will be included in the Forum program through an oral presentation of up to ten minutes and a maximum of six slides.

The submission period closed on September 1st.
The 16th Latin American Collaborative Forum for Quality and Safety in Health will take place on the following days 14 and 15 October 2026.
