Health economics

We generate economic evidence to strengthen decision-making in public health.
Our goal is to provide robust evidence to guide planning, optimize resource allocation, and support public health decisions.
To achieve this, we conduct applied research that analyzes the efficiency, equity, and economic impact of health policies and technologies.

Thematic lines

We conduct applied research that analyzes the efficiency, equity, and economic impact of health policies and technologies.

Economic evaluations of health technologies
We develop, adapt, and review economic evaluation models (cost-effectiveness analysis, cost-utility analysis, cost-benefit analysis, cost-minimization analysis).

Budgetary Impact Analysis
We estimate the impact on the funder's costs of incorporating new technologies or policies into the health system to support health coverage decision-making.

Burden of disease and attributable costs
We design models to estimate the health impact and economic costs of diseases and risk factors from different perspectives: health system, society, and patients.

Health equity
We evaluate the distribution of benefits and costs of policies or programs among different social groups, highlighting inequalities and providing evidence for fairer and more equitable health decisions.

Social and economic preferences
We measure the preferences, values, and priorities of patients, professionals, and society regarding healthcare interventions, in order to incorporate these views into decision-making.

Health outcomes evaluation (outcomes research)
We study the clinical, economic, and quality-of-life outcomes associated with interventions, providing a comprehensive view of their value in real-world practice.
