IECS receives delegation from PAHO: strengthening strategic alliances in health

On April 11, the Institute of Clinical and Health Effectiveness (IECS) received representatives of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) on a special visit.

Alexandre Lemgruber, Regional Advisor on Health Technology Assessment and Acting Head of the Access to Medicines and Health Technologies Unit in the Department of Innovation, Access to Medicines and Health Technologies (IMT) of PAHO, led the delegation together with Cecilia Marzoa, Specialist in Program and Alliance Management PAHO ARG, and Caroline Bregman, International Consultant of the IMT Department.

During his stay, Lemgruber gave a detailed presentation about PAHO, highlighting the new IMT Department and its units, as well as regional advances in Health Technology Assessment (ETESA), collaboration with the Regional Health Technology Assessment Network of the Americas (RedETSA) and upcoming events on the agenda for 2024, including the next RedETSA meeting in November.

In turn, the Dr. Federico Augustovski, director of the Department of Health Technology Assessment, Health Economics and Systematic Reviews of the IECS, presented the research team, highlighting the lines of work, actions carried out in the last year and future plans.

The meeting was an invaluable opportunity to review the joint activities carried out with the IECS department and to identify areas of collaboration that strengthen the role of the IECS as a PAHO-WHO Collaborating Center on public health issues. This visit underscores the IECS' continued commitment to excellence in research and international cooperation to benefit global health.
