On Friday, November 19, the Institute of Clinical and Health Effectiveness (IECS) will host a day in which doctors, nurses, pharmacists, healthcare professionals, biochemists, pharmaceutical companies, scientific societies and other professionals linked to the care of health. The objective is for them to acquire tools related to the quality and safety of medical care.
Why is this discipline important? Because it is estimated that one in 10 patients suffer harm as a result of the care they receive in private hospitals and health centers*. This is how some people do not receive the appropriate medication or do not receive it when they need it, others have to face hospital infections, sometimes they are diagnosed with an illness when it is too late and others fall after an operation because they are not in the right state. an environment that meets the appropriate conditions for its containment. A significant part of these incidents can be prevented and acquiring tools in this regard is essential.
The objective of this day is for health professionals to learn about some experiences that were carried out in different institutions in the country in order to improve this sad health panorama. These experiences were until now disseminated within the framework of a forum that operates via the Internet (the Collaborative Forum on Hospital Quality and Safety) and will now be made public in person.
The special guest will be Dr. Tejal Ghandi, director of the Center for Patient Safety at Partners Health Care in Boston, United States, and the local host will be Dr. Ezequiel García Elorrio, clinical doctor, master in Epidemiology and director of the Department of Quality and Safety in Medical Care of the IECS.
