By 2030, cesarean sections could account for almost 3 in 10 births worldwide. And, in 3 decades, the global rate grew almost 20%, often without a clear medical indication and exposing women and children to avoidable complications.
To contribute to improving this situation, our Maternal and Child Health Research Department participated in a pilot study in 4 hospitals in India that reveals that the implementation of the WHO Childbirth Care Guide can reduce complications by 15%. unnecessary cesarean sections, improving care without causing harm.
This is the first randomized clinical trial in the world to evaluate this tool and was published in Nature Medicine.
