During the ISPOR Colombia Congress, held on August 15 and 16 in the city of Cartagena de Indias, the Dr. Andrea Alcaraz, a researcher at the Institute for Clinical and Healthcare Effectiveness (IECS), was awarded a special recognition for her outstanding work in the field of Health Economics and Health Outcomes Research (HEOR).
At the event, which brought together health policy professionals and experts from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and Mexico, Dr. Alcaraz participated as a speaker in the panel on “The Influence of HEOR on Health Policies in Latin America” and gave a presentation entitled “How to determine the social impact of incorporating technology into shared decision-making with patients?” In addition, Andrea was Chair of the ISPOR 2024 Health Technology Assessment Roundtable (ETESA) for Latin America, where decision-makers from the region discussed adaptive HTA and decision-making for medium- and high-cost drugs for high-prevalence diseases.
The recognition granted by the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcome Research (ISPOR) Colombia, highlights the effort and dedication of Dr. Alcaraz in promoting the development of Health Economics and Outcomes Research, a crucial area to improve effective access to health technologies globally.
Dr. Alcaraz's contributions not only pave the way for new generations of researchers, but also encourage collaborative work between different professionals in the sector and exalt female leadership in the field.
