Juan Pablo Smutny is a medical graduate of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and a specialist in Internal Medicine from the "Dr. Alfredo Lanari" Institute of Medical Research (UBA), where he also served as head of residents.

He is currently a candidate for a Master's degree in Epidemiology, Management and Health Policies from the National University of Lanús (UNLa) and, since 2023, a doctoral fellow of the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET).

At IECS, he is a research fellow in the Department of Health Technology Assessment, Health Economics, and Systematic Reviews. He has also participated in research and teaching teams in Epidemiology at the Institute of Collective Health (ISCo) of UNLa.
