Mabel Berrueta

Mabel Berrueta is a doctor specialized in Pediatrics and Pediatric Intensive Care, with a master's degree in Clinical Effectiveness from the University of Buenos Aires and a scholarship from the CISMI program at Tulane University, funded by the NIH in the United States. Currently, she is Director of the Maternal and Child Health Research Department of the IECS and coordinator of the Statistics, Data Management and Information Systems Unit.
As a researcher, her focus is on maternal, sexual and reproductive health, and women's health and rights in Latin America, Africa and Asia, highlighting epidemiological studies and clinical trials.
With experience in the design and evaluation of health interventions, he has worked on projects to improve data management in clinical research and promote behavioral changes in health providers and pregnant people. She has led initiatives to increase the use of perinatal corticosteroids, improve the detection of maternal syphilis, and promote smoking cessation in pregnant women. During the pandemic, she advocated for early vaccination in pregnant people and provided synthesis of evidence for decision-making.
His projects have been funded by prestigious organizations such as the WHO, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, NIH and IDRC. Additionally, she co-directs Clinical Trials and Implementation Research courses in the IECS Master's in Clinical Effectiveness and has contributed significantly to the field of maternal health with numerous relevant publications.
